VOF week 4: define my community "Need Solution"

Posted April 14, 2009 from Cambodia

I face some problems of money. When I was in grade 10, I thought my life would get stuck, after finishing high school because my parents had no money to pay for my education at university. At that time, I thought that if I graduated from high school with low mark, I would not get scholarships from government sector at all. One solution, I had to study hard to reach high grade. I gave my best; still I could not get scholarship that is fine. I used to think that if I did not get scholarship, I would go to capital city to find job in garment factory. Then, I would save monthly money to pay for university. However, I could reach on goal; I graduated high school with a high grade. Thus, I got scholarship form government. Life is unexpected, sometimes we succeed, but sometimes, I will fail. Failure is good for us as long as we learn from them. Do not fear of failure. Life never end, unless, we let them end. I know said is easy than done; however, if we keep optimistic to the problems, I judge problems as our friends. Hence, I will be comforted by problems. Yes, I agree it hurts, when we fail, but it also sweet when we know how to walk with them. I prefer failing 2000 times and succeeding once to succeeding 2000 times, and failing once. From my point of view life is worth, life is meaningful. Therefore, be grateful for our lives.

The way that people in my community see the education is very narrow. They do not even see the distinctions between educated and uneducated people are. They are pride and full of prejudices because they treat each other badly. For example, they gossip each other; they do not care about world and societies. Day by day, they play only lottery. Sometimes, I took their dream and break into part and they got number for playing lotteries; for instance, if they dream about two snake, the predicting number would be 88 because snake represent number 8. They do not care much about their children’s education. Sometimes, they request their children to stop studying and work replaces. They desire their children to earn money for them. If they children want to study, they should find money for them first and then can go to study. Hence, most of my villagers are uneducated with uncreative minds.

I have an opportunity to get higher education. I want to solve the problems of my community. Moreover, I want to switch the way of their thinking or the way of their behaviors. I know it is not easy to change the way of someone thinking because it has entrenched in their minds for a long times. I do not despair at all. When I finished from university, I would take action on my community by staring to educated children first. Due to the way of young children thinking are different from their parents. I think I would face some trouble with kids’ parents. I really want to change the situation in my community now. I am so young, they do not believe in me at all. Some people, they said I am just a young generation that has no enough experiences, and how can they believe in me. Now, I try to attach to self so social activities to gain my experiences and confidences.

I fell and see hope in World Pulse. My little feeling tells me that World Pulse can get me to gain my confidences, and push me to involve in social problems around the world. World Pulse is full of information from different part of people that have different experiences. I got benefit from reading articles in World Pulse. Moreover, I want to show the situation in my communities to the people around the world to know. If readers have some suggest for my communities, I would be grateful for them.

Hello, your post is really nice and I quite agree with you that you learn the most when you are in a difficult situation, because it tells you a lot about who you are, your limits, and the energy you have inside to overcome the difficulties. Thanks ! And never stop believing in yourself, people like you can change many things. Brigitte
