I am a beautiful married mother of 6, 5 alive. Am trained as a journalist but above all, I have a heart full of love for anyone female. I have a burning passion for the needy and less privileged in society, not because I have much, since I got nothing, but because I have been through a lot of suffering all my life, as a young girl and even as a mother. It is with this in mind that I set up the Centre for Disadvantaged Girls, a Community Based Organization in 2002, and later the Malkia Foundation, a National NGO in Kenya in 2014. We empower girls with educational opportunities and women with skills for enterprise development for gainful and or self employment. Ours is a haven where women come for solace, and where they can not only dream again, but also nurture their dreams to fruition. Community Development, Education, Health and Women Empowerment. My biggest challenge to date has been getting the necessary funding for my Centre. Am a trained journalist, though I have been privileged to ammass project management skills too.
My Vision for the Future
I envision a future where women don't have to walk tens of kilometres to fetch a few litres of water, a future where women will be given equal rights to education and leadership posts as men, where our kids don't die for lack of food and medical attention
