To the Christian: Straight Versus Gay

Dear Christian,

I know your Holy Book admonishes you not to engage in sex with the same gender. I know you you call it a SIN. I also know that 'gayness' is not the only sin your book talks about.

Is that why you look at gay people with so much hate in your eyes? Is that why you condemn them at the slightest opportunity you have?

Last week, your sister told you a blatant lie. It was hurtful but you still smiled at her because she was your sister. That was a SIN too, you know.

What of your uncle? Yes, I mean the one that beats his wife all the time. He lives like a king in his house while his wife serves him as a slave. His character is demeaning yet you have not rallied against him in protest.

Let's forget about others and focus on you, yes you! You saw someone in need and you failed to help. You did not visit the sick. You were giving yourself empty excuses yet deep down in your heart you knew you could make it to that hospital but you were reluctant.

How many times have you fed the hungry? How many lives have you brought positivism to through your words and deeds?

Yet when it comes to the people referred to as 'gay', your 'Xtianity' emanates. You have created a long distance between you and them. You call yourself 'the righteous' and call them 'the sinners'.

What happened to the powerful four letter word LOVE? Love and solidarity is the only way you can bridge this gap. I will leave you with these words: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Adieus!
