Theatre for Women's Rights
Jan 21, 2015
Story
The artists of Price of Silence, who come together to volunteer their passion, and craft to illuminate the global struggle for women's rights, have decided to formally create the Price of Silence movement. We have decided to become a nonprofit theatre company, and to fully dedicate ourselves to not just fighting cultural, economic, and physical violence which threatens the safety and development of women, but to develop a theatre in which all members of human society, from all walks of life, and diverging cultures, may find a home under the lights of possibility. This grass roots theatre movement seeks to educate, invoke responsibility, and create a culture of empowerment.
Some of the long term goals, beyond the performances, include drama classes for victims to tell their narratives. We will teach women how to use theatre as a means of literacy, economic inclusion and development. It is our belief that theatre allows audiences to live and breathe the struggle, participate artistically, and invoke empathy, understanding, and responsibility to humanity.
In the word's of the Ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus, we will: "tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world."
We appreciate your support thus, far and look forward to growing with you in the future. We will include more about our decisions, and artists, including more videos of our performances on this page soon. We will continue to relay constant news, and culture on the war, and heros of the largest human rights scandal in human history, that of women's rights.
