Hello my friends!

Violence against women continues day to day here in Eastern DRC. There is a 15-year-old girl who had been raped by Hutu soldiers right in Shabunda in front of everyone, including her family. After they gave up, they killed her.

Thank you, my friends, and until next time.

Dear Prudence it is so sad about the tragic end of this young girls' life. Please continue to educate us on the situation of women and girls in your country. I am with you in spirit my sister and i encourage you to be strong. Stay blessed

Thank you Prudence for sharing. My heart goes out to that girl and her family. It is a big shame that soldiers who are supposed to protect civilians continue to rape, kill and torture civilians. Take courage my sister. It is people like you; who refuse to watch heinous crimes happen in silence that will force change. Keep writing until the violence stops. All the best!

Thank you for this story Prudence, as sad as it is to read, it reminds us of the reality that women all over the DRC face. If you're willing to share, what has your personal experience as a woman in the DRC been? Are there any services, organizations, or groups that are there to help women such as the one in the incident you just shared with us? I heard Neema from WorldPulse speak in New York and she spoke of the high rates of violence and rape against women. I try to imagine a day when women can walk freely in your country with your heads held high and with the confidence that no one can touch you.

Love and support, Kiran

Was there ever any prosecution of this girl's rapists and murderers! Do such men ever expect to be prosecuted for their crimes? Where the goirl's parents able to do anything about theseorrific acts? Somehow I suspect that there was not much legal recourse.

I don't know what is saddest; that such a thing could happen or that we have all heard of so many such cases that we imagine that nothing could happen to the perpetrators
