Disclosing ones HIV status

I am utterly dismayed at the odesity of some people , who believe that if you are Living with HIV and Aids you need to wear that on your fore head , so that every where you go people may know your status . This is offcourse in the light of high levels of stigma and discrimiantion that we see happening everyday towards people who live with HIV and AIDS .
I will narrate my experience, I recently meet this guy , who said that he liked me or rather said he loved me and we have been going out for some time and we have been practising safe sex all the time until one day the condom broke .
After attending to the broken condom , we started chatting on the possibilities of infection should one of us be HIV positive. He said if you are positive you must tell the person first thing so that they can decide whether they want to be with you or not , but I then asked him Are you not able to love a [person who is living with HIV and AIDS ) his answer was but you need to know this before you can develop love and feelings for a person , some how I was so dissappointed with his answer that I told him that I was also living with HIV and AIDS , you could have seen the horror in his eyes , and he has never called me nor contacted me since that fatefull night .
I am glad he is no longer around me as I would like to be loved by some one who love me for me irrespective of my HIV status.

So to all those people out there who have been rejected because of your HIV status my advise will be , love yourself and keep your self healthy and safe.

Life is too short to look for outside affirmation , charity begins at home so start with your self and the world around you will love you for who you are not what you have .
