World Pulse Media and Speaking Tour Selection

Dear Correspondents, Mentors and Midwives,

As most of you know, we will be selecting three Correspondents from this year’s program to come to the United States to participate as keynote speakers in our World Pulse Media and Speaking Tour. Last year, we launched this event for the first time! Sunita, Malaya and Jackie from the 2009 program traveled to five North American cities, speaking live with social change leaders, decision makers, and local communities. They were invited to speak at TEDWomen, The Paley Center for Media and the US Department of State.

Now, it’s your turn! Our panel of judges, which includes members of our Editorial, PulseWire and Voices of Our Future staff, as well as our founder Jensine Larsen, will be selecting three of you to come to the US this fall for an all-expenses paid trip. You will travel to Washington DC, New York, San Francisco, Denver and Portland to share your stories with audiences in the US as representatives of the Voices of Our Future Program.

How Does the Selection Process Work?

First, we’d like you to review the criteria we set out in our program rules, and on the applicant group page. We will be using these criteria to select the three correspondents.

You must be able to travel to the US during the month of October 2011, and you must be able to secure a visa. Please review all the rules by clicking here.

Please ask your mentor or your midwife to nominate you and send a brief, 200 word statement about why you should be chosen, to me (with a copy to Scott), no later than April 1st. You are also welcome to ask your mentor and midwife to write a combined nomination if they are both available.

We will be announcing the three correspondents in early May!

I know everyone is excited about this trip, but remember, having been selected to participate in the full Voices of Our Future training program was also a prize in itself—there were nearly 600 women who competed for the 30 spaces available. The three Correspondents who are selected to come to the US will be representing all of your voices.
