Catherine Bertini Speaks About Women, Farming & Land Rights (Video Clip)

On International Women's Day in Seattle, Catherine Bertini (Former Chief Executive of the United Nations World Food Programme and World Food Prize Laureate) gave a great speech about the link between food security and women's ability to own land and control the assets from that land.

The event was for RDI, a nonprofit based in Seattle with offices around the world, that focuses on farmer's land rights. Each year, they hold an event on International Women's Day to draw attention to the need for WOMEN to have secure property rights, because women do the majority of farming yet own less than 2 percent of the world's land.

Kudos to Catherine Bertini for shining a spotlight on the importance of women's land rights, when few people are brave enough to discuss it!
