Because you are beautiful you are pretty

I asked the girls who were attending the workshop one by one. Are you beautiful? Starting from the first row every one either said I am not sure or directly said no. I then on the white board wrote two terms beautiful and pretty and asked them to think for two minutes and describe me these terms. What according to them these term mean. Here in Bangladesh black is considered ugly that is why dark people do not feel easy with their being and are always under pressure of being color shaming. After talking in detail about why they do not think they are beautiful I came up with differentiating between the two terminologies. I said, every beautiful person can be pretty but not every pretty person can beautiful. Beauty is with in us. Kind, generous, passionate, ambitious, good heart, honest, hard working, someone who is responsible are some of  the characteristic of any beautiful person while in comparison something that does not come from within, something that comes from outside makes us pretty. Branded clothes, shoes, make up, skin bleaching, hair coloring. These are the few things that can make us pretty. Now tell me are you beautiful or pretty? Beautiful!!! Every one exclaimed. Next time never allow anyone to tell you, you are not beautiful. Not every one of us can afford branded stuff every time and it is not necessary even. If you are born beautiful what is the need to rely on external factors to make you look pretty. Dark skin is God gifted and there is no term called ugly. It is man made. It is societal and we have to change it. You have to help me change that mind set of diving people into categories of ugly, pretty, poor rich. We all are human beings and if we admit to it and focus on our inner characters then we give rise to charismatic leaders in us. Focus on all the good things and that is what matters. Purchase a branded mind for yourselves and that only comes when we invest our time in ideas, in thinking win win, in solving problems, in creating web of fruitful discussions, withstanding with the way you are born is beautiful and because you are beautiful you are pretty!
