World Pulse: Turning Stereotypes of Women to be False

After I completed my intermediate level, I wanted to enroll in the institution which provides good education. Unfortunately, I could study only that stream which fit into my family budget. I tried my best to enroll in a good college, but since I was dependent on my parent’s economy, I had to comply with their decision, so I enrolled in a college where I was not satisfied with the quality of education. I was so sad because I wanted to get broad education: education which could enhance my critical thinking ability, and foster me to be an independent and prudent person. Realizing my life would end up as a girl who is destined to be confined within household chores and a simple job in office took me to depression because I knew I could be more than that. At that period of time, I learnt about the university where I am currently studying in Bangladesh. Coming to the university has opened up the global world for me and this is the place which introduced me to World pulse. My fortune was strong that I ended up in this university, but not every woman is favored by their luck. Moreover, education is not something which can be decided by luck: it is a necessity to live an independent and better life, especially for women.

I was surprised to find women from so many different parts of the world sharing their problems and coming up with solutions in World Pulse. I always wanted to be able to share my voice, be the voice of others who could not reach the correct platform, be able to analyze situations and come up with solutions. This inspired me to apply for Voices of Our Future. This campaign will help nurture my journalism skills and enable me to portray life of others in a realistic way. The campaign is important for me to make my vision come true. I want to be able to address women’s issues and contribute in solving problems which women are facing in the corners of Nepal. There are some rural parts of Nepal which is isolated and stories of those women have never come to media. Their stories need to be shared and be heard by entire Nepal as well as the international world because I believe they have stories that will augment women’s issues and even be the solution to problems women are facing. In addition, I want education being available to every girl in Nepal because when we go farther from Kathmandu women still are ignored for education. I will be able to make this vision come true only if I gather ample amount of information about women’s issues, information technology and build strong network around the globe which is possible through World Pulse. I want to be the person who introduces women, whose voices have never been heard in the world, to the powerful world of social media.
