Video Discussion: More Than 100,000 Women Murdered with Fire in India Every Year



Dowry murders (the murder of young married women for dowry by their husbands and inlaws) have reached epidemic proportions in India today. And burning them to death in the kitchen is the most preferred method because it is the easiest to explain away (she was working in the kitchen!) The police does not investigate or even file a majority of the cases. So a team of 3 researchers for the medical journal Lancet worked hard to collate hospital records and testimonies of victims families and discovered that there are possibly more than 100,000 victims in India every year.
