MY VISION

I intend to reach out to as many women as possible with the message of hope and strength. I want to see women stand up tall and be confident and not to be intimidated by any man. I believe every woman was created with the inner ability to survive in any environment and in all circumstances. The grassroots women in my community have been relegated to the background with the lack of support to develop themselves, their skills, talents and potentials. My voice and that of other women especially those in my community have been suppressed for so long, so there must be a change. How do I plan to do this? My vision therefore includes the following measures and actions. I want to encourage and empower the women in my community by organizing empowerment seminars and conferences which will provide a forum for these women to shares their experiences and struggles as well as have other women to talk to them. This will therefore act as a support for the development of women’s potentials. These women need to be made to understand what they carry in the inside and that they could make it to top if they choose to. Women especially older women who can’t go to school will equally be taught self empowering tools in the areas of finances, education, social and others. Creating community schools which will not only encourage these girls and women to learn, but which will also provide scholarships for those who can’t afford the cost of education. The school curriculum will be designed in such a way that it meet the needs of the women and brings about self development. Opening a broadcasting or media house (radio and TV) is also part of my vision for bringing about change in my community. I believe through these broadcasting media, women can have the chance to transform the world because their opinion will be heard and their views shared to a mass population. All of these come under the umbrella project of starting a non-governmental organization that will bring together other women who share in the vision to cater for all these needs. The voices of the women in my community will be heard if they are educated, empowered and giving the opportunity to make a difference. As concerns my personal life, development studies will be a great asset, and I intend to acquire more knowledge in that field.
By applying for Voices of Our Correspondents, my main objective is to bring about change not only in my life, in my community and in the world at large. For me to become a Voices of Our Correspondents is a unique opportunity that will be given to me to make the difference and transform my community, to let the world know that we need to make the world a better place for women. This means that, women are given the chance to hold leadership positions even in those areas that the world thought was reserved only for men. I know being a Voices of Our Correspondents with the help of vision mentors, will enable me be equipped so as to successfully run this organization that will touch many lives. Also, I will be able to meet other women with similar visions or who share in my vision. I so much believe in team work, that is, dreams become easier to materialize when there is a network or connection with other people who are focused and have one goal.
