A marketing veteran in technology, philanthropy and social entrepreneurship, including B2C and B2B, Robin worked in Silicon Valley with high tech "luminaries" including the "Grandfather of the LED technology," Roland Haitz, at Hewlett-Packard where she managed advertising, direct mail, tradeshows, and more for the Components Business Group. As colleagues left to form hi tech start-ups, she was retained to consult for various companies that grew from HP and other Silicon Valley companies. These included Oak Technology, Galil Motion Control, PLX technology and others, some of which have become international and publicly traded and still using some of the materials Robin created.
After 20 years in hi tech, Robin’s work turned to philanthropy and nonprofits where she developed and raised funding for numerous community programs in Santa Barbara, California. These included foster children, at-risk youth and people with physical, developmental and mental disabilities including veterans and rehab patients, and the Symphony. She worked as a volunteer, as Director of Development and VP Marketing on Boards of Directors. As a Rotarian, Robin received two honorary Paul Harris awards for “Service Above Self” from Rotary International.
Her current business, Social Impact Marketing, evolved from her belief that cause marketing and the nonprofit sector is experiencing a paradigm shift toward greater sustainability, less checkbook philanthropy and a growing for-profit social cause business sector. For 2 years, she hosted and produced an online radio show, Socially Conscious Investing, where she interviewed over 80 people from around the world who are changing the face of business as social entrepreneurs, impact investors, authors, educational institutions, B-Corps and NGOs.
As an outgrowth of Socially Conscious Investing, Robin now focuses on crowdfunding to rally its power to support new business and important social causes such as eradicating extreme poverty, growing jobs, education, empowering women and lifting the economy. Her clients are social entrepreneurs and existing businesses involved with deepening social impact, conscious business practices and overall leadership. The most recent of these businesses include:
- GENiSYSS LLC, a bio-tech firm developing the consumer market for using DNA to improve long-term health and well-being
- True North Leadership, an international leadership development firm
- Children of the Earth, an international nonprofit focused on developing world peace through our youth
- Aid Afghanistan for Education, schools in Afghanistan focused on providing education to the marginalized population of women and boys who would otherwise not have access.
