The Survival of Jan Little, by John Man

Story
I was amazed to read about the true story of a clinically blind and deaf American woman, Jan Little, who spent approximately 20 years (until 1980) living isolated in the Amazon jungle with her daughter, Rebecca, and her controlling second husband, Harry Little. Harry would not tolerate any deviation in behaviour he stipulated to be acceptable, and the two women had to obey him blindly throughout their time together. Rebecca and Jan grew to love the jungle, and their interest in different plants developed over the years. Towards the end of the story, Jan finds herself alone in the jungle (other than the companionship of an adopted monkey) for several months.
The book is candid and an easy read. I definitely recommend it.
