Ruth is a Commercial/Corporate litigator and a Tax Lawyer in Uganda. She is the Founding Partner of Ligomarc Advocates a Ugandan Financial Law Firm based in Kampala. Ruth's eighteen years' strong experience in commercial and corporate dispute resolution covers areas of; tax, lender enforcement actions, receiverships, company liquidations, shareholders, trade marks and drug regulation. Currently much of her work is in tax advisory, oil and energy as well as alternative dispute resolution.
Ruth is serving as President of the Uganda Law Society.
Her other professional memberships include; the International Fiscal Association (Rotterdam), the International Bar Association (London), the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and the East Africa Law Society (Arusha).
Ruth has handled unprecedented cases in banking/finance and drug regulations at the Court of Appeal of Uganda. Other unprecedented areas in the High Court of Uganda are in trademarks and drug regulation/pharmaceuticals.
Ruth formerly worked with Deloitte & Touche, Kampala, as a Senior Tax Advisor and with M/s Kalenge, Bwanika, Kimuli & Co. Advocates, a leading commercial litigation law Firm in Kampala.
Professional Qualifications; Master of Laws Degree (LLM) in International Business Law – The University of Manchester, United Kingdom, Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) - Makerere University, Uganda and Diploma in Legal Practice, Law Development Centre Kampala, Uganda.
