Let us hear ourselves say.....

How do you make a difference in the world? How do you speak out on behalf of those who cant?
The truth is that we have the power to help others right at our fingertips but equally the same, many of us (women) face a wall blocking our freedom of expression.

I am a citizen of the world and as such, I want to exercise my right to speak, inform, challenge, even shock to open up the eyes of many out there that women still today are suffering injustices and abuses!

I may not be a professional journalist, I may not be eloquent but I have been given the gift to think, the capacity to learn and access to resources....so I intend to use them! To represent others comes with a great responsibility because I cannot in all certainty know that I am representing well or that I am truly embodying what others wish to say. However I am a believer in justice and through this I will actively seek to do what it is right...

‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’ Gandhi said, well for change to happen it needs to come from each one of us, let’s create a movement, One voice. We are even more accountable now, as we have technology to support our cause. The internet/ web is a powerful tool that we have to reach millions and create awareness and consciousness; to speak on behalf of those silent voices; to awaken dormant minds...Let's unite and empower ourselves as women, of all generations, that we have the right to be treated equally and given the same opportunities because through that we will create a more balanced world, freer from violence, better societies, stronger economies...

Some may wonder, ‘Why bother?’ Because the world it is what it and it has always been this way…but it is not! We have achieved much throughout history i.e. new social movements, rights to vote, rights to our sexual reproduction in some countries, rights to work, rights to political participation…however there is still a long way to go... We have moved away from some really ‘old school’ thinking yet in many places women struggle tremendously and many remain uneducated. Let’s not forget how women are still victims to domestic violence everywhere in the world!

This is the time to say ‘No more!’ and let’s stand up for our right as citizens, as human beings that all of us, no matter our gender, colour, race, educational status have the right to live in liberty of oppression and injustices. We can all make a difference and that difference begins today within us…

‘Have a cool head and a warm heart!’(that phrase really stuck with me, someone very special told me as a way to deal with troubles in the world). So let’s think clearly but with real conviction and passion that we can make a difference and create the change we wish to see in the world!
