Introducing myself and my journal: The Dream Quilt

About Me:
Hello WorldPulse Community!

I am excited to have discovered and joined this forum of women! I found a copy of WorldPulse while I was living in South Korea and I fell in awe. I carried the magazine with me through Korea, China and Tibet. The cover fell off. The staples loosened and the pages started to hang askew. I kept it with me, reading and re-reading the articles. I shared that magazine with all the women who crossed my path. The pictures spoke as loud as the words. It was sitting beside me in Lhasa when I crossed the boundaries of language and discovered the communicative powers of knitting with a circle of Tibetan women. It inspired a Canadian middle school teacher I shared it with to bring international women's issues into her grade 7 classroom.

It has inspired a number of my sketches and paintings. And it has inspired me to write on women's issues as a means of voicing my solidarity with the women and communities of the world that suffer injustice. I write and paint in order to acknowledge my position of privilege, to stand in solidarity with those facing injustice and to create positive social change.

I look forward to joining the discussions and actions swirling within this community!

Peace,
Sadie
