Social Entrepreneurship- For and By Women

As a precursor to the Sankalp Global Forum, 2018, Safecity had a chat with them on Twitter @SankalpForum about Social Entrepreneurship- For and By Women keeping in mind their Gender Track.

The chat began by acknowledging the #MeToo movement in India and asked the audience for suggestions to curb the issue of sexual harassment through entrepreneurship while also providing security for women. The audience discussed the gender biases and other reasons that exist that make it difficult for female entrepreneurs to access capital. The audience was also urged to think of ways in creating women investors who would, in turn, invest in women. Again, came the question of gender equality and whether women entrepreneurs have the same opportunities and ease of starting a business as men have. The participants were encouraged to talk about some of the women social entrepreneurs they know who inspire them by breaking the glass ceiling, and build and nurture enterprises of their own. The chat ended by asking the participants about some of the latest social innovations that focus on improving the lives of men and especially, women.
