Change can take place only if we believe in it

Barriers to change vary according to the context change is personified with. Some barriers are resembled as community acceptance. Moreover, other changes are declined as a result of finance issues and resources. Also, lack of knowledge , phobia, taboo and stigma can play negative role in placing change in the community. Those were some obstacles or barriers that delay change from occurring in the community. I tend to utter delay because nothing can prevent change from occurring.

As change is a technique, it needs tools and means to force it thus, usually we find them in the community. For instance, we can mobilize the community by recruiting community mobilizers towards a vital issue and raise community awareness in certain issues such as HIV AIDS or early marriage. Another tool can be used is setting role models and success stories of true examples to encourage community members to approach the new trend and place it with confidence. Further, we can provide peer education to clarify facts and figures on related issues for the purpose of eradicating taboo and stigma. Those were some examples of how we can get over some challenges in the resistant communities.

One of Web 2.0 advantages is networking, which is resembled by websites such as World Pulse and Taking It Global. We know about Gender based violence and we kind of ignore it in society. But when we see examples from other countries , we tend to speak up and reveal about our experience in violence against women. Thus, we overcome the stigma behind it by revealing such sensitive subject. And when we copy this example to other issues around the world, we can see how many petitions have been signed , how many campaigns are successful ,and how many people follow causes and believe in them, and finally reach what they have believed in. All in all , online communities provide the support you need with only one single click and strong desire to change. So what are you waiting for? Get the help you need, join us and make the right click to change !
