I have a vision

Martin Luther King had a dream , but I have a vision. It is a great term to describe in words. However , we simplify it with actions and steps to fulfill it in our life. It is something that people write on their grave stone that he or she has been thriving for. Thus, we visualize the vision since our childhood ,as we foretell our future jobs, and social status to friends and families. Then ,we put it into practice as we study and charge our potentials with the needed loads to fulfill it. Thus, the vision is more grass rooted than the dream .

When I was a child , I had a vision of myself as a person helping others and giving a condolence tap to the underprivileged and help them voice their pain to be positive energy. Moreover, I saw myself as a traveler ,roaming the universe, seeking and providing knowledge . I still recall what one of my teachers said about me: \" you are United Nations\".

Yet , my vision has become true as I am living it now. I travel a lot in different regions around the world for the sake of sharing my experiences with people , networking with varies issues of concern ,and brining my country up in the international platforms and forums .Further, I fuel my soul with knowledge to keep myself deeply connected with my innate wisdom , not to forget myself while caring about others. Thus , I maintain a spiritual side of my life as sacred sphere as I believe my rituals are the source that strengthens my soul as I feel GOD is listening to my prayers.

On the practical side, I work with refugees' community , and with people of my country especially women and young people. Therefore, The assistance I provide is presented as overt as capacity building activities , trainings and mentoring. On the other hand, it is cultivated as covert as raising their awareness about their potentials ,which leads to self-empowerment , eventually community development.

Wherever I go , my identity as a Yemeni girl becomes stronger, as I am proud of being Yemeni. Thus, I hold myself responsible of improving my homeland and I am committed to contribute in its development in all fields that I am good at.

This brings to my mind my journey to the United States and how much it helped in transforming the saga about Yemen. Through speeches in Rotary club , college faculty and with students ,these little humble attempts contributed in letting more people know about Yemen. Ironically, Yemen ,for them, was a country that was mentioned on The TV show \" Friends\". Moreover , it was the country where people live in tents, ride on camels and do not have phones nor wireless connections. Imagine how much efforts is needed to replace those myths by facts. However, I did it. At first, for them , I was that girl with head scarf . Then, I became \" Sahar , the Yemeni girl\". This sculpted fare well phrases as gratitude reactions by American citizens saying \" Now we have a reason to visit your country\".

Voice of Correspondent program creates an immense tool ,through which my vision will be deeply fulfilled. It will help me reach out untold stories and make them visible and restore people's voices. Thus, it will enforce experience and knowledge sharing around the world. Also , it will capture the true image of people of my country without stigmatization of terrorism and intolerance. Plus , it will emphasize on my vision as a traveler inside and outside my country to fetch glimpses of human cultures and daily lives on this part of the world.
