Using Digital Media to combat Domestic violence

Since digital media is getting popular, more and more people are getting connected. The attraction of various social networking sites and their ease to access have made people to share more about their lives, happenings and much more.
Besides sharing our sweet memories, our golden moments on social media and blogging sites, sharing pain and suffering is also a part. Domestic violence is the unspoken truth which is faced by almost more than half of the world women population somewhere in their life time.
With the passage of time women are getting more empowered through education, they are earning their own living and enjoying freedom of independence still the evil of domestic violence exists. And the most common reason behind it is, most of the time it is not shared. It is taken as personal and private matter or the sufferer might fear shame and disgrace that would be brought to their families if they share about it.
Because of these inner fears she barely speaks about it and when she is not speaking about it, against it the evil of domestic violence is getting strong with each passing day, besides women empowerment, her getting stronger as individual still she suffers domestic violence.
Digital media is one of the platform where she can talk about her pain and suffering. When she shares her pain another women can get strength to share her side of story. And thus a chain can be created where more and more women can learn about the challenge and possible solutions. Thus digital media is not only providing her space to express herself but also making her a leader where she can lead her part of story and save many others to be victimized.
The reason behind my inspiration to touch this dimension of digital media came after I read a daring story of a housewife on a blog where the link was shared by many on social media sites, a sufferer of domestic violence. That woman was from another country, from a totally different culture and background still her words were the same what I have heard from women here at my end.
She had the same fears of not talking about it otherwise it will bring shame to her family, she feared the same from abusers, she feared the same to be a victim of domestic violence proofs you a better and loyal wife. But when she mustered her courage and decided not to be silent about it anymore. Because daughter was getting the next victim so she broke her silence. She shared all that happens behind covered curtains and her words were never new. Her each and every word was relating to a rural woman living in a different part of the planet. When she spoke against it the word was shared and heard. And so many others broke their silence. Many have learned they are their own heroes. They are the one who can change their lives.
