Lugaw...Wow!!!

Ang lugaw...bow!!! Sometimes in small businesses that Filipinos have a saying, "tubong lugaw." Filipinos are rice eaters. One alternative into their taste is eating lugaw. It can be eaten during breakfast, merienda, lunch, snacks or dinner especially when someone is sick.

Lugaw is a also called porridge or congee (Cantonese-style). It is a soft-boiled rice cooked with ginger in meat broth. There are plenty of varieties to choice from and flavors to make this plain lugaw such as goto or arroz caldo (Spanish influence). This is best serve with tokwa't baboy or fried tofu with pork strips or boiled egg.

This is eaten mostly among Asian countries with different variations from Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

I have watched the segment of Jessica Soho's show about Lugaw that features all over the Philippines of how they cook their lugaw and in the Go-Negosyo program featuring Start-Up in the Lugaw Business if your have Php 5,000.00 to begin with.

We love to taste and to eat food. This lugaw is an alternative way of eating, besides, it is affordable. As rice eaters because of our geographical location as a rice producers. We could also have an alternative. Instead of rice, we could use corn for our lugaw.

I have eaten alot of lugaw from Tagaytay, Cavite, Laguna and Metro Manila in different varieties. As I have mentioned, it is affordable and it has ginger in it which is healthy for your body.

Eat... Love and Live.
