When Coffee is not Coffee...

I asked my house helper to make rice coffee. The process is simple by roasting some rice grain until it is black, put it into boiling water. The aroma is so enticing for you to have some coffee. Well, it is not the Starbucks, Seattle's Best or Figaro coffee that you will have. But, it is rice coffee.

During World War II, only in the Philippines, they have to have alternative solution in drinking coffee by having rice coffee or corn coffee, in order for them to survived. The elders passed this to the next generations to come especially in the provinces.

People in the provinces, when instant coffee is expensive, they have rice coffee instead. Some of them have corn coffee, same process. You could noticed that the people in the provinces have longer life. No pollution, back to the basics of enjoying life, no fast pace of the city life or corporate life. In other words, they know how to enjoy life to the fullest.

It has healthy benefits like the palpitation of the heart is not present because it does not have caffeine. You could sleep, much relaxed. The toxic of the body will washed off bit by bits that you will notice, you will urinate. It is much better than the regular coffee or tea and it so affordable because it is easy to make.

Everything starts in small beginnings. Some Filipinos are making it into a business like Leticia Basubas who is a lady agriculture graduate from Nueva Ejica where they call her the "Rice Coffee Queen." She was featured in the agricultural show.

Anyway, I am enjoying my coffee, where proudly to say it is homemade and that it is "Only in the Philippines."
