The Way Ahead

I am a development professional having 9 years experience in the fields of Health particularly mother and child health, child trafficking, STD/HIV/AIDS, adolescent education and livelihood. I have long been associated with research on gender disparity widely witnessed in the case of HIV/AIDS patients, vulnerability of women patients, illegal trafficking as a fall out of abject poverty coupled with societal prejudice that positioned a girl child at some notch behind her male siblings and a source of tradable income much similar to livestocks in the family.I have also been associated with assessing the impact of watershed projects on women and the prerequistes for their meaningful participation in the projects. My working area is a tribal dominated one and I find utmost satisfaction to be a part of their way of living. As my job demanded, I travelled extensively in the tribal belt of West Bengal, Jharkhand and orissa(3 states of India). During my journey,I heard the same 'mantra' of life everywhere- simplicity.
