My Village My Community

When I lived in hometown, I had do nothing to help the villagers and I had seen many problems of the villagers’ lives related with gender discrimination and poverty. Some of them use violence in family that is directed against a woman or violence that affects women disproportionately. It includes acts that inflict physical, mental, or sexual harm or suffering, threats of such acts, coercion, and other deprivations of liberty. Another, most people in my village are living in poverty, have no enough school, lack of employable skills, the threat of homelessness and shame trap women in abusive situations.

After I have spent many years living in Phnom Penh Capital city of Cambodia where is full of modern things, I have learnt a lot of those things just hope in one day I can make a change in my village my community, the last 3 months I went back to visit my relatives in my hometown and villagers accompanied by the new Help Khmer Women and Girl NGO where I’m volunteering beside SI Phnom Penh. I had a great honour to spread the news related with gender to educate them to stop using violence in their family which was titled about “Life is Precious”, is meant being a human must have right equally or gender quality. Currently, I’m planning a school building project to build in my village where has no enough classes for student to study and I will discuss them to have a fundraising which should be contributed from the government, organizations or NGOs and other generous people and I hope this fundraising should be held soon.

This school building will be not only for the young students to study but it is also for men and women who wish to learn those training skills such as sewing and knitting, cooking, workroom, etc. Anyways, for my first project is to provide training skills only women and knowledge to children but I hope all men in my village will be provided the training skill soon. I hope my solution can make a change in my community even not all but it is a little to minimize of poverty in the village that is much I wish.
