I'm in my mid-forties. I used to be a professional in the public policymaking industry in the UK. I took on the role of embedding human rights into public policy. Now, I'm taking on the role of being an advocate for inspired humanity. That is, encouraging and supporting people to be and act in-spirit (motivated by internal animating, life-affirming forces such as curiosity and compassion).
I'm the daughter of Indian immigrants to the United States. At the moment, I'm very conscious of how much valuable connection has been lost in our family as a result the way their migration journey played out. My siblings and I, for example, don't speak their mother tongue. As a consequence, my parents were unable fully to share their stories, their inheritances and their emotional lives with us. This has left them feeling isolated and disconnected from their own children...more on this topic will be posted in my blog soon, because I am for the first time feeling angry about this loss of connection on my behalf, on my parents' behalf, on behalf of all the families who have experienced this.
