The Lazy Feminist'

There is an old Chinese aphorism that says ‘women hold up half the sky’. However In some places around the world they end up holding more than half. I come from a place where women hold more than half the sky. Where anonymous are women. Myself I have always been interested in uprisings, and even more I have always preferred dissent over conformity, noise over silence. Telling the story of the woman or fighting the cause of women is still considered widely as a voice of dissent. Where those who narrate this voices are seen as mere rebels who need to be silenced. It is for this reason that I asked why not become the dissenter and lead the uprising for other women who are already silenced? I joined World Pulse to start this awakening, not only from within but also around me, to ignite other women to rise up and act. Before joining World Pulse I had been reading a lot about the feminism movement even considered myself a ‘femi-nazi’ a word i adore. Even though many find this term peculiar and usually very curious to ask what this term really mean and some even say am potentially dangerous being a ‘hijabi femi-nazi’. For a long time however I have not lived up to this name, I remain disengaged from women activism I think have been a ‘lazy feminist’, a mere spectator who was muted. But now I want to live up to this term ‘femi-nazi’ that I so love and not only carry this fancy title but really make an impact in my society. It’s a new beginning for myself, a new sojourn for me and the women I work with now who are mostly gender based violence survivors. Our story officially begins here at World Pulse!
