Ok let's get a list of book ideas going:

I think that "Daughter of Destiny" by Benazir Bhutto (coming out of Pakistan) will be August's selection.

We also have "No Woman, No Cry" by Rita Marley (comming out of Jamaica) on the list; perhaps that could be Septembers?

Maybe we could try to nail down three more to put us through December? The reason I am thinking about planning ahead is just so we can make sure everyone has their books ahead of time.

Please let me know your thoughts. Once again, Thanks Kizzie for coming up with this-you rock soul sister!

Much peace and love to all,

Sharese

Thanks a lot for the great ideas ladies!

I think we can start the book club asap, we all have great ideas and great book suggestions!:)

As you know,

No Woman No Cry by Rita Marley was selected for the first month. Today is the 7th of August, we can still read it for August, but to make sure we all have enough time to get the book on time, I propose we can start on the 1st of September.

First Book:- No Woman No Cry by Rita Marley or Daughter of Destiny by Benazir Bhutto

Second Book:- Letters From Burma by Aung San Suu Kyi OR Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie OR Daughter of Destiny by Benazir Bhutto

Third Book:- mabye we can have suggestions from Latin America and North America?

So can we all get the August or September book on time?

love, Kizzie

Ok so team, are we gonna start in Sept? Reading either Daughter of Destiny or No Woman No Cry

October we can read either Daughter of Destiny or No Woman No Cry (whatever one we didn't read in Sept)

November we can read Letters From Burma

December we can read Half of a Yellow Sun

How does that sound?

Love,

Sharese

We've got a plan!

I'm off to buy Daughter of Destiny...yea! I look forward to the interesting and lively conversations that will ensue.

Love, Laura

Yay! Also, perhaps pick up No Woman No Cry in case we decide to have that be our first one :)

I am so excited! Much peace and love,

Hi all!

I'm so looking forward to our book club reading and discussions. I got the Benazir Bhutto book. I can also get the Rita Marley one too. Have we decided the first book officially?

I also thought some of the books on the World Pulse Arts section look amazing. Maybe later on... I liked the idea of coming up with a book each month from Sept. through Dec.

what are all your thoughts?

-Jody

Ok, let do Daughter of Destiny for August, then No woman No cry for Sept. Push all the rest up and choose a new book for December:)

That sounds good to me.

Peace and love to you all,

Sharese

Hi Everyone, I am a new membe of this club. I just would like to suggest a book for the month December. The book that I would like to suggest is called A Golden Age by a writer of Bangladesh. This book is about the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. This book is really an interesting one because it gives information not only about the liberation war, but also about the social sitaution of a woman how she struggles in the society to survive with her childeren.

Looking forward for all of yours reply. FAHMIDA YESMINE BANGLADESH
