Flying FEMpads

This FEMpad project is a learning curve. I recently received a beautiful letter from A 13 year old girl in Uganda who had received some FEMpads. She said "this is the best present I have ever received. I didn't have any knickers to use but improvised with a pair of my brothers pants".

Imagine that - having not a single pair of knickers? It has also come to my notice that many recepients of FEMpads do not have laundry soap with which to wash their pads.

So I am pleased to report that I have sent 150 pads, (3 for each women, 1 night and 2 day pads) 100 pairs of knickers and 50 bars of laundry soap via Rwanda for it's onward journey to Democratic Republic of Congo. This was my greatest achievement thus far, but complicated by the huge import tax the recepient received (so kindly paid by a dear friend in Australia)!

Regarding the missing FEMpads sent to another friend in Democratic Republic of Congo, which were sent in December 2014. She received them about a week ago!!!

The Quakers here have joined with me to start a once a month sewing circle and it was pure delight to see everyone so busy sewing FEMpads.

So if anyone wishes to contribute to our ever growing expenses please go to www.fempads.com.
