The voice that matters

In today Liberia, women hold the highest office of power but do this means that our voices matter? The issue of women rights is now a cliché and mockery in our part of the world
Even as journalist there are issues that still suppress my voice because I am a woman. Thanks to web 2.0 for giving me the space where no editor will choose not to air my story. Web 2.0 has made my voice matter. Without a doubt or fear of being question by my manager; my husband, or family for the expressing my thought in a civilized society, web 2.0 I can write about women that are being abused as the result of domestic violence. With this technology and innovation, I can question my society about men that kill their wives for cheating and go unpunished, society that harm their daughters in the name of tradition (FGM). I can hold leaders accountable for not prioritizing sexual violence over corruption. In my opinion sexual harassment is a form of corruption because the victim is been corrupted.
I feel proud that my voice matters to a group of people and it can be heard with the help of the technology of the web 2.0. Together we can make our voices matter to those that see us as a lesser human being.
