Call for solidarity with Burundi #‎WhiteFriday4Burundi

Greetings of love, hope, freedom and solidarity. We have a call to action that we would like everyone who loves peace, especially for women, to be part of. I want to bring to the attention of all the sisters and comrades in this safe space of World Pulse, that We had a gathering of East African social movements in Arusha Tanzania at the just concluded Zinduka festival (www.zindukafestival.org)World March of Women Kenya was part of the organizing committee, and played a great role in convening the women's tent. We were sisters and comrades from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. We deliberately decided to pick up the issue of Burundi, as Burundi is currently going through a lot of problems, and women are suffering. Africa's peace and freedom is shrinking especially when we are nearing or during national elections. We should be proud when election time approaches, because then, it is our time to change or reward the leaders who work for us. In this case, it is not. Many people suffer during this time, especially women. Our elections are marred with violence, corruption, e.t.c and women suffer most. In Burundi, currently; a lot of women are dying of hunger, many are suffering in neighboring countries (Rwanda, Tanzania,) as refugees. The situation can be stopped. The more we are silent, the more the women are suffering. There a lot of women political prisoners in Burundi. There is respect of rule of law or respect for human rights. People are dying in large numbers. At the Zinduka festival space, We had long discussions , and came up with resolutions that we are planning to push to the East African presidents gathering, and the EALA ( East African Legislative Assembly), to do something. On the 18th of December, we are kindly requesting all sisters to stand in solidarity with the women in Burundi. Kindly wear white, and if possible, take a picture with a message of love and solidarity that we could share with the world, and also a way to show that women can shape up their lives. World March of women is a solidarity movement , kindly lets stand in solidarity. We have made the call in other spaces.these pictures could be tweeted via (hashtag whitefriday4Burundi) In Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, we will hold activities that will create more awreness. we have a video show on the 18th December on the Burundi Crisis, and we will have a peaceful march. Please join us in your respective countries....you can take a picture with the name of your country, and send it to us to share that you are together with Burundi. Dress color is white to symbolize peace Women have no barriers..Lets stand together for Burundi (hastag) whitefriday4Burundi In feminist solidarity
