About Me:
Sophorn Cheang holds the Vice President of Programs and Events position of Cambodian-American Community of Oregon and is an aspiring, young, enthusiastic leader who is active not only in the Cambodian-American community, but also involves with other organizations such as Colored Pencils and Transitions Global. Early 2008, Sophorn has been involving with Portland International Community School, which is an alternative high school that provides culturally relevant education in collaboration with Portland Public Schools for refugee, immigrant, and at-risk high school students. She believes that knowledge gained and experience learned can benefit not only oneself, but can be applied to better others and society. Having grown up most of her life in Cambodia and with less than a decade living in the United States, she has witnessed the cold hard world of poverty, corruption, and crime. In addition, her personal and professional development is attributed to the many mentors, seasoned leaders and professionals that she is involved with. Being blessed with the opportunities in America, she feels that she could and should give something back to this world.
She earned a B.S in Finance from Portland State University. For the last few years, she was also heavily involved with the First Tee program, a program of PYGA as a Fundraising co-chairperson, not to mention, MediaRites Board Member, Asian American Business Alliance member, an active member and mentor for the Cambodian-American Community of Oregon. She is fluent in the Khmer written and spoken language, as well as English. Currently, Sophorn is a Real Estate Broker with Georgetown Realty, Inc
Sophorn loves Community Service, humanitarian work, reading, traveling, working out and the great outdoors.
