When chaos rules, Skype (and life) becomes difficult

Dear All

Since I joined WP, I have shared many stories of my life and my community. But today I wanted to tell you something about the city that I am based in these days. Its Hyderabad - a city in southern India and it is now being ruled by chaos.

The city of Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh (AP) state. Now, people here don't want to stay in AP any more, they want the federal government to create a new state ('Telengana') with Hyderabad and a few nearby districts.

The government is acting the way all governments do: weighing political pros and cons and having talks and consultations. But meanwhile, the supporters of Telengana are going berserk with their demands; schools and colleges are closed every second day; for over a month there was no public transport and worst of all, there is a non-cooperation movement under which government employees are often staying off work.

Among many disruptions and difficultlies that this movement has created, one is acute power deficit. The plants from where Hyderabad gets its power, has seen a big drop in production and so, long hours of power cuts have become a daily evil.

Everyday, the power goes off at about 6 am, comes back by 9/10 and then goes off again for 2 -3 hours at about 12 noon.
These are the routine cuts. Beyond this you have the power cuts in evening as well, though not everyday.

And when there is no power, there is no internet as I use LAN (I had an internet stick - a data card, but I can't afford it now).

Though my LAN is really strong and reliable, I am worried that this power cut will make me lose big time, including that group Skype call, we are supposed to be having next week.

It will be a shame if that happens, but I hope you all will understand the situation I am in and that we will be able to work around it some way.

For the community, I also want to give a message: come what may, we will not lose the hope. not over a few hours of power shutdown!
