Introducing Bridgender gap global Organisation - BGG

Sisters join me in welcoming my new baby in the house. Bridgender Gap Global (BGG)

Gender inequality damages the physical and mental health of millions of girls and women across the globe. (World Health Organisation)

Bridgender gap global is a non for profit (NGO) organisation with the aim of empowering women and girls across the globe. Our mission is to improve gender equity in health, acknowledging that women’s rights to better health is one of the most direct and potent ways to achieve social justice and bring change to whole communities. Our top priority is to work with girls and women suffering from obstetric fistula. Fistula is a childbirth injury caused by prolonged obstructed labour. Without treatment, fistula often leads to social, physical, emotional, and economic decline.

Bridgender gap global organisation acknowledges that gender equality and empowerment of women are vital for economic growth, development, and stability. It recognises the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women as effective instruments to stimulate development that is truly sustainable. It also recognises the need for more significant efforts to close gender gaps at national, regional, and global levels through a systematic mainstreaming of gender perspective in all development agendas as crucial.

I stand to be corrected that Gender inequality is still a global reality –

I could not have agreed more with the above statement from Mr. Justin Trudeau Prime Minister of Canada at the UN General Assembly of 2016. As presidential candidate Hilary Rodham Clinton claims to have shattered the glass ceiling being the first woman presidential nominee of a major political party in the United States of America, we could only wait in hope and dream that it will be a beautiful end game.Well, we all woke up with our dreams shattered instead of the glass ceiling, that fateful morning of November 9th 2016.I said to myself and I am sure many as well; Still a steep hill to climb in the world`s most democratic nation.

As a woman bleeding inside, feeling cheated, doubting myself and my own convictions, I could only hold on to these reassuring words of Mrs Clinton during her concession speech; “especially to young women, \"...never stop believing that fighting for what is right is worth it ...\"never doubt that you are valuable, powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams\"

Gender is a universal structural inequality which affects people in all countries all over the world. It cuts across other inequalities such as race, disability, age and sexuality and is always a key defining feature of economic inequality within countries. Each woman and girl experiences discrimination differently, but there are also shared realities and barriers. In no country has gender equality yet been achieved.

Based on these principles, BGG has been founded as an apolitical non-profit making organisation, on the following:

1.1 Our values

Community/people driven, consistent, equal opportunity for men and women…….

1.2 Our vision

A world in which women are fully empowered in all spheres and attain their full potentials by 2050.

1.3 Our Mission

Promote the process of women achieving equal social, political, and economic rights for a more sustainable development.

1.4 Goal

To impact the lives of as many girls, women and whole communities breaking down any health barriers especially those suffering from Fistula in achieving their full potential.

Cheers
