My Elevator Pitch

My name is Stella Mofor.

I am a gender equality activist and founder of Bridgender Gap Global (BGG) a non-profit organisation that works for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Our mission is to improve gender equity in health acknowledging that women’s rights to better health is one of the most direct and potent ways to achieve social justice and bring change to whole communities

Our top priority is supporting victims of Obstetric Fistula which is one of the most serious and tragic childbirth injuries, that leaves it victims with still-birth, chronic medical problems, depression, social isolation and deepening poverty.

Our goal is to impact as many women and girls as possible in sub-Saharan Africa starting in Ethiopia where this problem is prevalent. In a bit to eradicate this preventable ad treatable condition BGG aims at increasing victim’s awareness and sensitisation against child marriages one of the causes of maternal morbidity (fistula). Increase victims access to health information, increase efforts to keep adolescent girls in school and ensuring effective rehabilitation in their communities when treatment is over and much more
