Sunita.basnet + VOF Mentor Love Letter

My Dearest Mentor,

Where are you from? I have been thinking about you after I knew that I was selected. Every moment whenever I am free you come in my mind though I have never seen you and know nothing about you. I don’t know who you are but I believe you are going to be a good mentor of mine. I have to learn many things from you. I needed a companion to sail along with me in my life and I am happy to get you as one.

I am Sunita Basnet from Nepal but currently, I am studying in Asian University for Women, Bangladesh. I am the eldest daughter of five sisters and a brother. I am from a remote village where girls are poorly educated. I am excited to be a correspondent because in my community women are neglected and treated as second class citizens, so I think this is a great place for me to write my communities women’s stories. I am passionate about citizen journalism because it will help me to develop my writing and learn new skills. The more I learn, the more I will get a chance to understand problems. In the future, I want to work against poverty especially with women rights, their education and improvement. For this, I had already started my journey from my country by opening a women’s saving club, but I want to convert this into a credit union bank which will be run by only women.

I hope you have a little information about me. I want to know about you as well. With time, we will get to know each other better. Thank you for your valuable time in deciding to be my mentor. Finally, last but not the least, how are you?

With Love and regards,
Sunita Basnet
