a memoir from Burma

I can't wait 'til I can read these books!! I'm a Listener this year, & that Delphine! She is keepin' us BUSY reviewing the VOF applicants. I am so enjoying meeting these folks & imagining them in their homes on the other side of the world. It means a lot to me to be able to connect so closely with these beautiful and STRONG women and men. BUT, in a week, my reviews will be done, and then I can get to something I love to do, which is read great books! I will check them all out & post back if I have something to say.

For now, tho, I wld like to recommend a memoir pub'd in, I think, 2002 called From The Land of Green Ghosts - a memoir of a hill tribesman from an animist-Catholic tribe in central-eastern Burma , his life as he grew up in his tribe & then went to Mandalay to university & eventually joined the war against the junta in the 80s. It's an excellent story -- with an amazing ending. I read many ,many meoirs of ppl who have undergone adversity -- it helps me keep my chin up,w/ my problems that are paltry in comparison. Reminds me of what the human spirit can do.
