The Tongue in Judgment to a Sharp Pen

The Tongue in Judgment to a Sharp Pen

By Susan Aparejo

These words dominated the day of a person who was invited to grace the seminar about Feature Article to an institution where she longed to enroll when she was just in secondary years. This time she was thinking that she could step the school she had longed to be in her secondary years of journey. Yet, time denied her dream.

Yes, she was able to step the floor of the said institution not as a learner but a speaker. She joined the group of writers that flamed every cells of her writing skills to the fullest. Every writer shared their distinction from the other. Every skill was a legacy of time, a treasure of the present and a milestone of the past in honing everyone as feature writers to be prepared for a battle of pens.

She was there among others mingling with all her heart, her desire, her move, hope and all her best because she said " Opportunity knocks only one and the honor of being around is a priceless wheel of time encounter". She was rejoicing in a fathomless entity that she meant success of her job.

She has made the night a day, a dusk a mid day and the rain a sunshine for the task assigned. Everything equalled a sweat of inspiration for the opportunity for service. Everything went on smoothly.

When she was done, the gratitude and smiles filled up all the efforts being done. She was happy of course. It's a successful job then- being a speaker of feature writing at that institution. She was given the certificate and honorarium for the effort made. The committee of such institution showed and expressed their wholehearted gratitude as shown in their eyes and gestures. All those appreciation was unknown to others that she was invited twice to speak about the topic.

The red carpet exit was prepared. The committee sent her off with all those wishes to see her again for the next activity.

She said goodbye. She was given a red carpet entrance and exit. She felt the crown of success.

Yet, outside the portal, a nanny shouted to the guard and other parents outside " The speaker, Oh my God, she don't know pronouncing!, No good, not gooder. Wala lagi maulaw!"( Shame her!")

Then, she noticed I was watching her - and her tongue. Her tongue of making herself a "nanny" forever of her life!
