This is what war against women looks like in El Salvador

The Constitution in El Salvador allows for freedom of speech. There are laws to protect women. There are local and national security forces who are tasked with enforcing the laws and providing citizen security.

Then, what is wrong with this picture? Why is it that a group of women holding a banner that reads: [President] \"Mauricio Funes, if Beatriz was your daughter, would you let her die?\" are being confronted by heavily armed soldiers? Why are they wearing ski masks to hide their faces? Why the intimidation?

Beatriz is the fictional name of a real woman who will die if she is not allowed to have an abortion. Abortion is completely outlawed in El Salvador, even in cases where the pregnancy will result in the mother's death, as it is in Beatriz's case.

The status of women in El Salvador is not protected by the state. It is assaulted by the state.
