towards the dignity of women's life

I came from a middle class family, not knowing much about the world. Even today , i doubt that do i really fit into the world, which is managed and made for men, by men. As am growing, i realised that am not living my life, am just doing what others are saying or the expectations of the society. These restrictions, norms and values etc started troubling me, I started feeling uncomfortable, suffocated and my perspective about the world started changing day by day. I realised marriage, family are the big responsibility on women's shoulders and huge walls to obstruct the growth of women. I started negotiating with the circumstances, it was tough battle though. But i started enjoying all those troubles as i am enjoying my identity, self decision making and working for some one who is in need. It also helped me to learn more and more, people started knowing me and my work slowly. Many commented and some helped, few encouraged, very few stood with me.

My work is become my priority, my profession is teaching, am learning new things and teaching to the students, who are travelling in same boat. After a decade , experiences from withing and out side, i can see the troubles of other woman immediately. Women's struggles for freedom, environment, their family and better life, always under estimated by others. When women raise voice for some thing, they are name or blamed. Some times, their work is co opted or hijacked, due to lack of skill they easily fall into the trap of dominant forces and criminal men. The growing dowry deaths, child abuse, increasing domestic violence, wife beating and cheating in the name of love, honor killings(every day we can see parents, brothers and family members killing women to safe guard their respect) and started troubling me. I took part in many protests movement, did few concrete programmes for the marginalised women. Our telangana movement is also for self respect and dignity.

I started learning things from the grass roots, women, depressed and marginalised communities(indigenous, dalits, minorities) etc. i feel proud to see them, their courage and level of understanding , living in such hard conditions. I always feel like showing their courageous stories to the world. I believe, Strength comes from unity, being together and networking. I feel like writing stories and making films on them( do write and many are published in my mother tongue, some are in english also), like to show the world that women make better society, marginalised and down trodden people are the masters for the future, they have bundle of potentiality and we need to sharpen their skill. My priority areas are working on land, which is greatest asset to the grass root women, which gives them voice in the village and pride. Livelihoods, self earning are the basic needs for women. As i am trying to learn on making stories and writing, i found World Pulse Web 2.0. I felt happy and motivated as i want to learn more and connect to the world using new technology. My motto is to document, unheard stories, create women friendly world, linking to the world. Hope this community will help me to achieve my goal.
