My Views/Learn About Me

Hi my name is Tabatha. I'm 17 years old and a junior in high school. Ever since the election happened it really got me thinking about women's rights ad where women stand in the US and other countries. Everything stemming from equal pay to the fact that the amount of respect a women gets from her peers based on how their dressed. As far as that subject it angers me so much. I honestly do not understand how my outer appearance should determine how someone treats me. A couple weeks ago I was talking my mother about that and she agrees with that you need to dress a certain way to be taken seriously. And I asked her if she thinks she thinks like that because of a societal conditioning. She responded by saying that she doesn't think its because of society and just because of how it should be. That honestly saddened me. What brought this conversation up between my mom and I is the fact that I like to wear revealing tops and that she thinks I shouldn't be suprised that boys only want sex from because of how I dress. That to me is the equivalent of saying I'm asking for it. Like no, why should me wear revealing tops determine if you treat me with respect? Or if you take me seriously? I am a human being that deserve the same amount of respect as someone 100% covered up. And I don't mean to disrespect anyones political views by saying this. But how is a person whose said beyond disgusting things about women like "Grab them by the pussy." Or talking about that he make his wife do whatever he wants. Or calling a pageant girl an "eating machine". As well as a multitude of other things. How is someone thats done that our president elect? That makes me so terrified as a women in the US. Because when you vote for a presidential canidate you are saying you stand for what they believe. So the fact that enough people agree with the things he said and done to win the election. Thats terrifying. Anyway, I'm going to end this election/womens rights rant now. If you have any questions or comments on the things I talked about please let me know! I'm open to answer or respond to anything! Bye!
