When There is a Call for Action

A new level of world leadership by women is forming. We have raised our voices in global demonstrations against violence against women and girls. We have created the #MeToo Movement. We are experiencing the strength that we have by working closely together, when we heed each others’ calls to collective action. We have been creating waves of change. Change in understanding, change in imagining possibility, change in government priorities. We are all interconnected. We share this world. Our own governments affect each other’s lives. The more closely we work together, the stronger our ability to create change that benefits us all.

WorldPulse has partnered with Our Secure Future and Women’s Alliance for Security Leadership in a Global Polling Project. This is the moment, before October 10, 2018 to add your voice to what needs to happen for Security and World Peace. The Survey takes about 15 minutes. There is also an invitation to add our voices by posting a story on WorldPulse with what priorities that we know need to be addressed. These will be read, compiled and sent to the UN Status of Women for the preparation of a report. A report of the voices of women. We are being offered the opportunity to be part of a global counsel of women, bringing forward our priorities. A channel has been created for our voices. What an amazing opportunity. What a tremendous next step after experiencing our collective, global ability to create waves of action through #MeToo, #HerToo, #TimesUp, #1 Billion Rising. We have come together in the snow and in the heat, rain or shine, time and time again, to show our numbers, to raise our voices, and increasingly to celebrate our finding each other. WorldPulse members have made it a priority to reach women in the most rural communities, women with the fewest resources, to raise all voices, and to create change where it is most needed. The celebrations and sharing of love and encouragement within WorldPulse has reached a level of power and global connection that has never happened, ever, in the history of the world.

This call for our voices on Security and World peace has given me an even stronger sense of what we can do, now that we have the momentum in place to create change together. We in WorldPulse and with so many other sister organizations, are rebalancing the world by coming forward together with our priorities. Our solutions. The opinions of all of us are being given a platform. Undoing the censorship of women. Together we are forming this world counsel of women, and our voices will be heard. All of what we gather will be sent to the UN. All of it will be available to us for our individual work. Daily I am so grateful for what WorldPulse has offered me. Daily I am encouraged that despite the enormity of the brutal and disastrous mess we are working to fix, we have each other and we are growing phenomenally with each other, both in numbers and in inspired action.

This call for us to raise our voices on Security and Peace has prompted me to reach out to my Canadian WorldPulse sisters, and to all my sisters here in my country, to strengthen our connections with each other, to more easily, more effectively remain in contact with each other, share news of plans, coordinate our voices, create change together, have in place a network that creates coordinated action. In Canada we list to date as 825 WorldPulse members. The very first on August 1, 2007. The most recent, six new members in September. I was moved as I read through the list, that every one of us on this list has embraced the chance to think and work globally for change. Some of us on this list may be taking a rest, some may have taken on work in other ways that for the moment leaves little or no time for active involvement on WorldPulse. Some have just recently found us, are exploring and thinking up their first story. Many of us want to find each other, to be better connected, to be able to call attention to immediate actions needed locally or globally. As I travelled across Canada in the summers of 2015, 2016 and 2017 I was able to meet a number of you precious WorldPulse sisters in person. Our country is big. I don’t want to lose touch and I want to meet and keep meeting so many of you in person or online, so that we can work more closely together. Let’s find ways to form a stronger connection with each other online. Solid links to fast action when needed, locally and globally, whenever a Sister calls for it. Chances to brainstorm, share news and ideas. Let’s keep our Government informed on action being called for locally and globally. Let’s develop an ongoing forum on how to accelerate change, through a strengthening of our connections with each other. Here, by sharing news on WorldPulse. By private messaging each other. Email, Skype, meeting in person, any way we can find. And by encouraging women to join us here. Let’s find each other. Let’s know what each other are doing. Let’s create all the ways we can to build this Wave of Change together.
