Introducing myself and my journal: Aria

About Me:
I am writer living in Cape Town. I have been a teacher, community worker, activist, in South Africa and the UK. I have worked in primary, secondary schools, colleges and universities. I have post-graduate qualifications in education. I am interested in gender politics, the invisibility of women and their issues, including lesbian rights, older women, single women, menopausal women, women who restart their lives after war, trauma, divorce.
I write freelance as well as doing a number of low paid jobs so that I can write often. I volunteer at a local library running women's writing groups as well as at a primary school helping to teach children read. I am passionate about stories and helping people to recognise and value their stories as rich wealth inside of them.
