Finished the fall semester and starting the new endeavors on campus...

Well I am finished with my fall semester and have about a month until the spring semester starts. I recently went to an organizational meeting on campus for the group POW, Power of Women. The group is being re-created by an ambitious young student who transferred to University of Toledo. She was involved with the group at her former college.

I am 40 and most of the women in these campus groups are half my age. I enjoy meeting and talking with them because of their youth. So many do not know how far we as women have come in the US. Our history is vague in the teaching of history in schools. I tell them things from my youth and they are surprised and cannot fathom some of it. Just a generation or two before me has even more history to tell.

One of the projects the young woman came up with to raise awareness on campus is a Pay Equity Bake Sale.
Women earn roughly $.82 to a man's $1.00. She would like to sell baked goods at this price, $.82 for women and $1.00 for men, for the same items. I am very excited about the dialogue this is going to elicit! I will keep you posted on this eye opening event.
