MAGIC OF MONSOONS

Nippy air touching the chin, sky changing its colour, sudden thundering and lighting, whispering drops, crying clouds. Yes, my favourite days are back. It’s the monsoons that bless my state by stretching its hand across the land and made me to write this post also.

Is there anyone in this world who, doesn’t like rain? Can anyone say no to a rainy day, which is a big pleasure to all our senses? Does anyone deny, the mighty drops that gives new lifetime to Earth? Would anyone stop the funny sun in playing “Hide and Seek” game with the clever clouds? Who can say no to a hot beverage to touch their taste buds, in a breezy day?

I spent most of my childhood days in the Western Ghats of Southern part of India, where rainy days are like a boon to us. Our mornings will be blessed with sparkling rainy drops and nights would be like, breezy winds singing lullaby for the people who are curled up under their bed sheets. I remember my childhood days, during the rainy days along with my friends. Rushing from my school holding my cane to my home with my friends before we get drenched, putting heavy rain coat along with school bags, singing some funny songs, stopping near to the tea shops for a hot beverage, at times playing in the rain, jumping in the muddy pools making the school shoes wait and so on….

I remember most of my time in early childhood stage in monsoons would be like, am sitting near to the door steps and our garden, feeling the cool breeze, trying to catch the rain in coffee mugs and playing, smelling the pleasing fragrance of rain till my mom calls me in. Later when I grew, in my adolescent stage my rainy days took a very dimension. It’s like whenever it raining, I started to listen to my favourite songs and drinking coffee in a mug rather than playing by filling rain droplets in the coffee mug. Now as a grown up, I started to recall and write incidents that took place in my life that gives me more memories to cherish.  Listening and enjoying the music of rain where it falls on the rooftop, reading my favourite novels, writing my experiences makes me more creative and gives me a peace of mind that I will never get from any other sources.

Can rain stretch a better bonding between two people? I can tell yes, and Let me explain how?

I had a friend from abroad, who volunteered in my organisation for a couple of months. She used to jump like a baby whenever it rains. She will dance in the rain, enjoying the first breathe of rain, screaming in amusement and dancing like a peacock. At times, she used to pull others out, make them also to get wet in the rain. She is so crazy of rain and the monsoon climate. She used to tell me, rain is the blessings from Mother Nature and we should never tell no to her blessings. You know, that monsoon season made me more close to her and knew more about her and our friendship became stronger because of her love towards rain, just like me. She is an inspiring person to everybody and very especially to me also…. I understood that rain can pile its miracle on people, no matter the place, age, background, belief, creed and gender.

I believe that “The meaning for rainy season is happiness. Mother Nature cleanses the human mind with the tiny droplets. The creativeness of the poets spread like anything, during the monsoons.   No music composers can make a music which is equal to the music of rain drops falling on the ground. All the people in the world together celebrate and enjoy this rainy season, unlike the other festivals. New faith sparkles, in the eyes of farmers.”

It is the season that is ANTICIPATED by everyone.

What else is going to heal a human mind and body, other than a pure single drop of rain?

I knew just like me, everybody will have more cherishing memories about rainy days and those who read this now will start recollecting their sweet thoughts on rainy days.
