Introducing myself and my journal: My Experience Violence in the Home

About Me:

I am a 58 years old lady. I have four adult children and several grandchildren. In 2005, I embarked on a degree programme at the age of 51. I would spend the whole day working as a personal assistant and then attend lectures after work. I graduated in 2008. It was achievement for me as I only had a primary education when I got married at the age of 16. However I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in 2009, had a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I lost all my hair, and for almost a year was very ill. I am getting stronger, take time to gaze at God's creation and welcome each day with a grateful heart. I wrote an article on my experience with breast cancer which was published in People Magazine, a South African magazine in July 2012.
