Breaking the Silence Campaign 2015, From Shame to Pride in Pakistan

Breaking the Silence in India partners with Zephaniah Free Education in India

Thank you World Pulse for giving us the opportunity to meet each other.

I met Zephaniah from Pakistan close to three years ago on World Pulse. We became friends and over many conversations, soulful sharing and tears, we became sisters. As we understood more of what we were doing in our countries, our bond grew. Today we formalized that understanding, trust and individual vision into a 'partnership'.

Today 'Breaking the Silence Campaign ' partners withZephaniah Free Educationin Pakistan to merge menstrual health education into the fabric of education for girls and women in Pakistan. Together we will focus on giving voices to women and girls in Pakistan with respect to their health and empowerment.

My sister Zephaniah is fearless, determined, far sighted and compassionate and I hold her hand today as we walk 'together' to ensure every girl and woman in Pakistan learns of the ABC of menstruation andlives in dignity and pride. Recipient of the global award of excellence for educating girls and women in Pakistan and strengthening their computer-using-internet-savvy skills, I am so happy to walk alongside such a loving friend and a strong sister of mine. Thank you World Pulse for making me meet Zephaniah!!

Breaking the Silence 2015: From Shame To Pride

Itis not just a campaign. It is a woman's individual effort to raise awareness around menstruation, on how difficult it is for adolescent girls and women and garner the kind of support and understanding that we require.

This campaign attempts to strengthen girls and women and reclaim their rights to discussion on menstruation and clean sanitary material and educate boys and men on how they can help.

Take this journey with me,which will be hosted on Facebook from 29th March to 28th May 2015, the International Menstrual Hygiene Day.
