Help Brazilian Women Uplift Their Lives Through Poetry With Me

What I'm Leading

I am Valéria Barbosa, 60, a cultural producer and poet. I work with community communication in the City of God and the Web radio with a program focused on poetry. In the favela there are people of value, it is necessary to divulge what has the best in the place. I am currently producing the first poem book of an 85 year old woman.

Quarterly we produce a printed newspaper, 4,000 copies for a community of 52 thousand inhabitants. The paper is available online at the ISSUU website.

Rio de Janeiro is very violent, fear reigns, having Community Communication and poetry as tools of expression is a way to seek a territory with more hope.

Who I'm Impacting

Women of the City of God and their families.

About Me

I work in Cidade de Deus, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for 42 years. I am a cultural producer, poet and composer. I like dealing with people. I have two books published. I decided to change, today I'm stronger. I know that my past was of fundamental importance in the construction of my history. I keep studying and facing obstacles, which makes me find new ways of dealing with a life. I am the founder of a community newspaper with 4,000 copies for more than 52,000 inhabitants. Our newspaper is hosted without the ISUU website, which increases its visibility.
