My Personal Vision

My personal vision
I am someone in the social work field for the past 30 years. Large part of it I have spent as someone who promotes women’s action to protect and promote the rights. In India, we cannot have time limits to our work. Day in and day out we have women coming with problems that need attention and support. Therefore, my personal vision is to provide time for myself while restrict my role in empowering women to orienting women who could orient others. I want to spend time with my daughter (who never got my quality time in the past 2o years), find ways to have family outing, take time to learn singing (my dream of young age), playing violin and improve yoga abilities. I want to spend time with my pets, especially the dog and also look forward to have grand children at some stage to play around and only that, not a burden bearing grand mother.
My vision for the community
I want more and more women become empowered and is able to be decision makers at equal level in their villages with regards to use of resource, be it monitory or natural. The village communities shall have women who have independence to decide about their marriage, having children (and not having) and about their relationship with men of their community. The women will have their own associations that would support women who suffer domestic violence. They will run centres where women will be able relax, have group games, sing and dance as they want (and play musical instruments) and do everything other than cooking and usual domestic chores.
My vision for the world
A world where women are enjoying equal rights on all decision making; women have their own forum at every state, nation that are interlinked at the world level . A world where women will have equal opportunity to be the presidents and prime ministers of countries and are at equal number in the law making houses by legal mandate. Where women will be able to run their own associations where they gather, enjoy a life on their own and get to know of the ways in which women of other nations are able to know and practice solitary time and taking care of one’s own physical and mental needs.
What voices of correspondent could do
There are a few women who want to share their worries to get ideas and consolation from other women. There are may women who want to share their success stories so that the other women will feel confident and conformable to face the issues. Voices of correspondence can be the means. It shall provide the space for all of us to share our victories and to provide genuine support and consolation to other women in need. Let us through Voice of correspondence make a world of women that all women can access and all women will be happy and proud to be part of.
