Introducing myself and my journal: Sistahs in Arms

About Me:
My name is Veronica. I am a minority college student at Middlebury College, which is located in Middlebury, Vermont-USA. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia by way of Florida. I consider myself a southern girl with a less than conservative view on most things. I'm one of six children and I'm next to the youngest. I'm the first in my immediate family to graduate high school, and the first in my whol family to attend college.

For years, I have fought to help women and girls, whether through the telling of my own personal story or by helping in my community, to improve self-esteem and provide them with concrete ways to see the positive side of their lives. I grew up in an area where poverty reigned, teenage pregnancy was the norm, and women had to struggle through raising their children without a father present. Almost every female in my family was abused in some form or another. There was a moment I said enough is enough. Women should not have to endure the cruelty that society gives us.

I started the a battle to improve the self-esteem of all my sistah's. Any girl or woman I could speak to or help I did. During high school I spoke to people about growing up in poverty, having issues with self-esteem, and any other subject that would get people to join my fight. In the process, my self-esteem and confidence grew. Every girl or woman I encountered enhanced my life in ways I cannot yet tell.

I believe I have a powerfful voice. A voice that speaks the truth of my experiences and of those whose lives have touched mine. I hope to improve my voice and knowledge base by interacting with those in the Pulse Wire community.

Thank you for creating a safe space like this and allowing those who share common interests to express themselves.
